Privacy policy

Effective 7 November 2026

In short: Lore's AI model runs on your phone. We collect no data: there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no Lore servers. Only web searches, the pages Lore reads and a one-time model download leave your phone, and only when your request needs them.

1. Who we are

Lore is an Android app made by Rohit T P, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Lore app and this website, lore.rohittp.com. You can reach us at lore@rohittp.com.

2. The AI runs on your device

Lore uses an AI model (Gemma 4) that it downloads once and then runs on your phone. Your messages, the model's answers and the files you attach are processed on your phone. They are not sent to us or to any cloud AI service.

3. Data we collect

None. Lore has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no Lore servers, so we don't receive your Chats, Memories, Attachments, searches or how you use the app.

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages, as any web host does.

4. Data stored on your device

Lore keeps the following in its private app storage on your phone:

  • Chats: your messages, Lore's answers and the steps it took, including search results and excerpts of pages it read.
  • Memories: the short notes Lore saves about lasting facts and preferences, and any you add yourself.
  • Attachments: copies of the files and photos you add to a Chat, and the text read from them.
  • Settings: your choices in the app, including your Brave Search API key if you add one.
  • The AI model and a small diagnostics folder: up to five recent crash reports and a log of step timings (numbers only).

You can delete Memories on the Memory screen, delete the model in Settings and remove your Brave key in Settings. Uninstalling Lore, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes all of it.

Lore uses Android's standard app backup. If you've turned on backup to your Google account, Android may back up your Chats, Memories and settings there. Your Brave API key and your attached files are never included. Google handles that backup under your Google account settings; we can't access it.

5. Data that leaves your device, at your request

Lore connects to the internet only when your request needs it:

  • Search providers. When answering needs a web search, Lore sends a search query based on your message to DuckDuckGo, or to Brave Search with your own API key if you've added one (falling back to DuckDuckGo if Brave fails). The provider sees the query and your IP address, under its own policy: Brave Search privacy policy, DuckDuckGo privacy policy.
  • Websites Lore reads. Lore requests the pages it reads, as a browser would. Some pages are opened in a hidden in-app browser so their content can load. Those sites, and services they embed, see your IP address and the request, under their own policies.
  • The model download. Once, Lore downloads its model (about 2.6–3.7 GB) from models.rohittp.com, which Cloudflare (R2) hosts for us, or from Hugging Face if that fails. Cloudflare and Hugging Face see your IP address and the file requested. We don't use these requests to identify you.

Nothing else is sent unless you choose to send it: for example, when you share or copy an answer, use “Report response” (which opens your email app with that one response for you to send to us), use “Share diagnostics” (see below) or email us. If you email us, we use what you send only to reply and to improve Lore, and we delete it on request.

6. Crash reports

Lore contains no crash-reporting or analytics library. If you've allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics data, Google Play's Android vitals may send crash and app-freeze reports to Google, which shows them to us as crash statistics and stack traces. This is controlled by your phone's settings and covered by Google's privacy policy.

“Share diagnostics” (Settings → About & privacy) creates a file with up to five recent crash reports, the step timing log and a summary of your settings with the Brave key removed. It never includes Chats, Memories, Attachments or your API key. Nothing is sent automatically: you pick where it goes in Android's share sheet.

7. Children

Lore is intended for adults and isn't directed at children under 18.

8. Security

Your data stays in Lore's private storage, protected by Android's app sandbox and your phone's own encryption and screen lock. Lore's network connections use HTTPS, and the downloaded model is checked against a fixed checksum before it is used. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your phone locked and up to date.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
